When people think of crafting materials, things like yarn, fabric, or even wood often come to mind. But there’s one incredibly versatile and underrated material that deserves the spotlight—plastic canvas!
If you’ve never heard of it (or only remember it from your grandma’s coasters), let me introduce you to a crafty game-changer that’s making a comeback in the best way.
💡 So, What Is Plastic Canvas?
Plastic canvas is a lightweight, flexible grid made of—you guessed it—plastic. It comes in sheets with evenly spaced holes, similar to cross-stitch fabric, and it's designed to be stitched using yarn, embroidery thread, or even ribbon.
It’s available in various sizes (called mesh counts), shapes, and even colors, making it a favorite for creative crafters looking to make things that are both decorative and sturdy.
🧶 Why I Love Crafting with Plastic Canvas
